PT. 1 SUMMER GARDEN MUST HAVES: POOL GARDEN
Swimming pools are more than just a way to beat the heat during those hot Houston summers, especially when nature is added to the mix. A surrounding garden could be just the relaxing and inviting combination you’re looking for.
This contemporary English style home is a prime example of how we brought the pool and garden spaces together to converge as one.
Several unique touches were incorporated throughout this design to bring this breathtaking scene to life. The homeowner, a skilled interior designer herself, spared no expense in retiling the pool and created a complimentary color scheme by picking out all the fabric for the outdoor furniture. The combination between the tile and the blue and white striping created a blended consistency throughout.
By extending the lines of the pool to align with the new garden space, we were able to create a seamless and consistent transition in the relationship between pool and garden. The client pitched in by creating the layout of the furniture in patterns; incorporating a symmetrical consistency throughout the design.
The beautiful bullnose brick also had enough variation in it to compliment the potted Asian jasmine; providing a visual appeal that will last from season to season. The feeling of freshness and nature all year long not only adds to a stress-free environment, but also adds to the value of the home.
Notice how the pool flows naturally with the other plantings and structures in the surrounding space. The reflection of the beautiful perforated wall glistens in the pool, while the fruit trees contrast against the dark green shades of thick ivy along the wall; creating a backdrop to a backyard fairy tale.
A bench was placed at the end of this new outlay, as the detailed arches couple with the crape myrtles on the corners to tie it all together. The dramatic hedging engulfs the shape of the bench, creating a whimsical view from every angle.
By merging the calming waters of the pool with the nature-fresh feeling of the garden, we were able to create an ecological haven for this client to enjoy for years to come.
